Materials

Blue Slate - calcium carbonate coloured by biotite, chlorite, hematite, and pyrite

Methodology 

For this site Delabole kindly sent various samples, including ground slate powder, slate chips and finished slate pieces. The Powder was ground and washed and used in the paint.

Silica containing minerals can desaturate upon grinding so it is important to balance particle size & colour saturation.
